While the youth have many hobbies like fitness, health consciousness, 72-year-old Ramnivas living in Indore has a hobby of collecting coins, notes and pictures of kings and emperors. His memory is weak, he is undergoing treatment but this hobby remains intact.

Indore’s Bajrang Nagar’s Ramnivas (72) has hundreds of heritage photographs in his treasure. Ramnivas says that life is about living it to the fullest. That’s why I fulfill all my hobbies. I have coins and many notes from before and after independence. These include a one lakh rupee note and a picture of the 400-year-old palace of the Holkar kings.

Notes range from 25 paise to 1 lakh
Pare said that his father Motiram Pare was an accountant in the Holkar regime. I was employed at Choithram Hospital in Indore, after retirement I worked at many places. Then after permanent retirement I focused on my hobby. Wife Sulabha Ramnivas Pare also supported me in my work after retirement. In just a few years, I collected pictures of many kings and maharajas of the country and abroad. I have notes ranging from twenty-five paise to one lakh.

Along with the photographs of the Holkar dynasty, Pare’s album has photographs of many foreign kings and their palaces including Maharaja Bakhtawar Singh of Ajmer, Maharaja Mansingh Saluja of Punjab, Maharaja Martand Singh of Rewa. He says that till now you must have seen the biggest note of 2000 rupees, but I have a note of 100000 rupees. On which there is a photo of Subhash Chandra Bose. Jai Hind Swatantra Bharat is also written on it. Apart from this, there are notes of 5, 10, 20 and 50 paise along with 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000 rupees. Ramniwas says that he has preserved historical objects for a different identity. He has a fifty-year-old camera. He has also worked in a press.

70-year-old wife Sulabha Pare says that her father belonged to the Holkar family, due to which he had a fondness for kings and maharajas. But after retirement, she developed a passion for collecting coins and notes. Then some foreign friends gifted her notes and she bought notes from some. Due to her age, she is unable to remember many things and can hear less but she will give you accurate information related to notes, photos and coins.
